Roger Bacon Sends FIVE Swimmers to 2024 State Championship Meet

We are thrilled to announce that FIVE RB Swimmers are headed to the state meet today! Lily Moore '24, Madison Stecher '25, Reese Riley '26, Helen Russell '27 & Matt Schomaker '27 will all be swimming in the state championship meet on February 22 & 23 in Canton, OH!

This is the highest number of swimmers RB has sent to the state meet. Students, faculty & staff celebrated this amazing accomplishment for these five athletes with a whole school "clap-out" as the swimmers exited the building.

Full details on each of the athletes swims are listed below.

Pre-lims will start on Thursday evening in Canton and the the finals will begin at 5pm Friday evening. Keep an eye on our RB Athletics twitter pages for updates on the progress throughout the meet.

Senior Lily Moore-

• Will be swimming the Freestyle Leg of the 200 Medley Relay Team.
• School Record holder as a member of the Women’s 400 Freestyle Relay Team from 2022
• Academic All American in her Senior Season

Junior Madison Stecher-

• Will be swimming the Backstroke Leg of the 200 Medley Relay Team.
• School Record holder as a member of the Women’s 400 Freestyle Relay Team from 2022
• Two Time State Qualifier in the 500 Freestyle (2023/2024)
• Finished 8^th in the District Meet in the 500 Freestyle
• School Record Holder in the 100 Backstroke

Sophomore Reese Reilly-

• Will be swimming the Breaststroke Leg of the 200 Medley Relay Team.
• Southwest Coaches Classic Champion in the 100 Breaststroke this year
• Two Time State Qualifier in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke (2023/2024)
• School Record Holder in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke
• 3^rd Place Finish in the 200 IM in the District Meet
• Two Time District Champion in the 100 Breaststroke (2023/2024)
• Number 1 Seed at this year’s State Meet in the 100 Breaststroke

Freshman Helen Russell-

• Will be swimming the Butterfly Leg of the 200 Medley Relay Team.
• State Qualifier in the 100 Butterfly

These ladies were Sectional Runner-ups in the 200 Medley Relay and finished 5^th at Districts while breaking a school record set in 1985 by 3 seconds.

Freshman Matt Schomaker-

• 7^th place finish at the District Meet in the 500 Freestyle
• 10^th place finish at the District Meet in the 200 Freestyle
• State Qualifier in the 500 Freestyle
