On Wednesday, February 7th, 15 students from Mr. Smith’s Anatomy and Physiology classes went to the Beacon Orthopedics Summit Woods location for a lecture about the anatomy of the knee. Then they donned their Personal Protective Equipment and went into the lab where they participated firsthand in a cadaver dissection. Dr. Ian Rice, the Team Medical Director for Roger Bacon, guided them through the utilization of an arthroscope - mimicking the techniques employed by surgeons to explore the inner workings of a knee joint, and Dr. Jorge Benito dissected a knee to show the students the internal anatomy. It was an experience that most students would not get until their later years in college – truly an incredible opportunity!
