2025 Science Fair Names Winners

On January 23, RB's finest scientists showcased their stellar work at the 2025 RB Science Fair.

Roger Bacon himself played a key role in the early stages of the movement which eventually led to the Scientific Revolution. Instead of relying on rational deductions from the statements of ancient authorities for truths about the natural world, he advocated that confirmation by observation or experiment using the methods of mathematics should be required. As we have moved forward in time, Roger Bacon’s idea became the norm in how all science is done.

The Roger Bacon High School Science Fair is one way for our students to put Roger Bacon’s philosophy into practice. This year's edition of the Science Fair had over 90 students compete and showcased 38 different science projects.

On January 29, students who earned a superior rating and the winning projects were announced to the entire school.

A special congratulations to those students who earned a superior rating. These projects are encouraged to continue to the regional competition at the University of Cincinnati.

Those entries earning a superior rating were:

  • Biology:
    • Maggie McCormick for “Grip Strength in Female Athletes”
    • Serenity Fox & Maya Nixon for “How Audiotry vs Visual Input Affects Student Learning"
    • Zoey Eagan & Claudia Veach for "The Effects of Families on the Young Mind"
    • Mark Zlatic & Joe Zlatic for "Can Men or Women Better Identify AI Images"
  • Physics:
    • Henry Fulwiler for “Spin Rate of Golf Balls"
    • Helen Russell & Ben Radecki for "Eggspert Packing: How the Packing of Eggs Affects Their Safety”
  • Chemistry:
    • Caroline Coleman for “Best Common Cleaning Supplies for Acrylic Paint Clothing Stains”
  • Engineering:
    • Karis Stoxen for “Which Alternative Insulation Works Best?”
    • Kelsey Berling & Ella Sokolis for “Which Bridge Design Holds the Heaviest Load?”

The Science Fair also awards a $175 cash prize to the winning project in each category (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, & Engineering).

This year’s winners were:
