Principal's Weekly
Posted Friday, March 19, 2021
The calendar for the 2021/22 schoolyear has been approved. Several key dates are provided below for your planning purposes.
Career Day
On Wednesday, March 24th we will have our virtual Career Day program for all of the students. We will not have speakers participating in-person, so we are using this opportunity to have the students use their Naviance account more fully.
Seniors will have the “Now You’re 18” presentation by an attorney representing the American Bar Association. They will remain in the flex rooms and participate with the attorney through Zoom.
Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will have a guided worksheet to walk them through their Career Interest Profiler on Naviance. Based on their Profile, they will have a chance to look more into specific careers using the Naviance Roadmap Nation videos. The worksheet will ask them to include some information they learned, as well as some reflection responses to what they learned.
While we miss the opportunity to bring in so many alumni and other visitors to talk with our students on Career Day, we believe activities planned will offer valuable information for our students. Additionally, our freshmen through juniors will learn that Naviance is so much more than just sending transcripts to college!
Scholarship Information
The Vincent M Kathman Alumni Scholarship is a $1,000 up to $3,000 scholarship for a current junior toward their senior year tuition. This scholarship is based on school involvement and financial need. There will be an interview scheduled after your application is submitted. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2021.
AP Test Information
Looking for summer work? Many local businesses are hiring students for summer jobs. See the employment page on the Guidance Section of our website. https://www.rogerbacon.org/academics/guidance-counseling/employment-opportunities
Seniors: Continue to check the guidance website for scholarship updates, and list all scholarships you are offered in your Naviance account. Scholarships are being added every week so don’t miss out!

An important part of our safety plan is ensuring that students who are sick are not permitted to come to school. If you are sick, please stay home. Check the temperature of students before leaving home. Students with a temperature of 100.4 degrees of higher should stay at home.
Primary symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, shortness of breath and/or loss of taste/smell. If you have have multiple symptoms or symptoms persist, please consult your family health provider.
Immunization Requirement for Senior Year. Senior students, if you have not received your meningococcal vaccine yet, please make an appointment with your physician. These can also be given at Kroger’s or Walgreens’ clinics. Proof of this vaccine or an updated immunization record should be turned in to the nurse’s office by the end of September. Thank you! If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Karin Herold, via email or leave a voice message 513-641-1300, ext 1140.
