Class of 2000
Samuel Davis, a proud graduate of the Roger Bacon Class of 2000, has built an impressive career as the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Echelle Resources, a global leader in software services. Alongside his executive role, Samuel serves as Vice President and Board Member of the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, a Trustee Member for the Ohio Association of County Boards, and a Community Board Member for COSI, a science museum dedicated to fostering STEM education worldwide. Samuel was also recently just named as a Board Member for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Recognized as a national subject matter expert, Samuel frequently speaks at conferences and is a passionate advocate for nonprofit initiatives across the country.
Roger Bacon’s Lasting Impact
Samuel credits his time at Roger Bacon for shaping his personal and
professional journey. The values of empathy, kindness, and respect instilled in
him during high school, particularly the Franciscan ideal of "living the
4th," have guided his leadership approach and commitment to serving
others. As a first-generation college graduate, Samuel found inspiration in the
stories of successful alumni, motivating him to pursue excellence in his own
endeavors.
Teachers Who Made a Difference
Two educators at Roger Bacon left a lasting impression on Samuel: Br. Chris
Cahill and Ms. Mellen Moors-Dressing. Br. Cahill taught him the importance of
emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and treating others with kindness and
respect—lessons that Samuel says became even more meaningful as he grew into
adulthood and fatherhood. Ms. Moors-Dressing inspired Samuel’s confidence as a
public speaker and taught him the art of engaging an audience with compassion
and poise. Today, Samuel attributes his success as a national Toastmaster to
her guidance.
A Memorable Victory
One of Samuel’s favorite memories from Roger Bacon is finally defeating his
Chess Coach, Mr. Fred Widmeyer, during his senior year. After years of playing
without a win, Samuel’s determination paid off, earning him a signed chessboard
from his coach, a treasured memento that symbolizes the power of perseverance
and discipline.
Advice for Current Students and Recent Graduates
Samuel encourages current students and young alumni to embrace opportunities
for growth, build meaningful relationships, and take calculated risks. He
advises them to manage their time wisely, develop a positive online presence,
and stay grounded in humility and authenticity. Most importantly, he urges them
to live with purpose, trust in their abilities, and embrace learning
opportunities in every challenge.
Faith and Gratitude
For Samuel, the values and community of Roger Bacon have shaped his career
approach, emphasizing empathy, active communication, and compassion. He remains
deeply grateful for the blessings he attributes to God’s grace, which keep him
humble and focused on serving others.
Family Life
Samuel is married to his college sweetheart, Jessica Davis, and together they
have two wonderful children, Mattilyn and Kendric. Their family also includes
two beloved dogs and four exotic saltwater fish.
A Remarkable Journey
Since graduating from Roger Bacon, Samuel has not only excelled professionally
but also dedicated himself to philanthropy. As the Founder and CEO of Good
Sport Golf Club, he organizes charity tournaments and manages golf leagues to
support nonprofit causes. His commitment to excellence, community engagement,
and family values exemplifies the spirit of a Roger Bacon Spartan.
